What is Stress Resilience Coaching?
One-on-One Stress Resilience Coaching
-
Build Skillful Habits
Are the things you do to manage your stress ultimately causing you more stress in the long run? Habits like doomscrolling, using substances, and online retail therapy might make us feel better for a moment, but ultimately cause problems for us long term. Activities like playing games, watching shows, and reading can be a good use of our decompression time, but if we feel like they’re taking up way too much of our lives, they can become a problem. Stress resilience coaching helps successfully replace harmful self-soothing habits with more effective ones.
-
Target the Stress
Modern stressors are different in many ways from the ones our distant ancestors evolved with. As a result, sometimes we need to deal with our stress (the symptoms) before we can deal with our stressors (the causes). Some stressors are systemic to the world we live in, and we just have to weather the storm. Either way, stress resilience coaching helps target the stress itself. Once we’ve turned down the volume on stress and taken a little pressure off ourselves, we can get back the resources and time we need to deal with our stressors.
-
Customized to YOU
Every person is unique, and our situations change over time. The advice we most often encounter for dealing with stress is so often oversimplified, or presumes a universal experience, or comes from a place of entitlement. If the general, one-size-fits-all advice for dealing with stress you can find out in the world isn’t working for you, it may be time to develop customized solutions specific to your situation, needs, and tastes. I help you find what will work for your unique self.
Coaching FAQs

First, we have a free 25 minute consultation / discovery call, where we get to know each other a little and determine whether and how I can help you.
Next, you choose the package you want and schedule your first session.
Before the first session, you’ll fill out an intake questionnaire to give me a better idea of your unique stress situation and where we’re starting from.
In the first session, we determine the first thing you want to work on, figure out how to make that happen, and set a goal around a new skill or technique you want to use.
In subsequent sessions, we check on your progress on your goal, and decide if you want to tweak something to make your chosen skill or technique more effective, or move on to something different.
At the end of your package (or every 6 weeks if you have a subscription), we check in on your overall progress to see how well it worked for you.

Absolutely not! I hate sales calls, too. The goal here is to find out whether and how I can help you with your stress. If the most I can do is offer you resources, that's fine! After all, there isn't enough time in the day for me to work with everyone who experiences overstress. Let's find out together if we're a good fit.

Any adult who is spending too much time overwhelmed, or is having trouble managing their stress, could benefit from stress resilience coaching. Resilience doesn’t mean never being affected by the tough things life sends us, it’s about how well we get back up when life knocks us down.
-
So glad you asked! Stressors are the difficult situations, environmental challenges, and physical barriers that push us to respond. Stress is the symptoms in our bodies and minds that occur when we are pushed out of our comfort zones. Our bodies are well adapted to experience stress - but only a certain amount at once, and only for short periods of time. Overstress happens when we are unable to release our stress and it builds up beyond what we are able to tolerate. And that’s when stress becomes a problem.
-
Overstress makes it harder to access the skills and faculties we already have for dealing with our stressors and setting and reaching our life goals.
So, no, stress resilience coaching isn’t therapy - we don’t do much talking directly about what’s causing your stress. Instead, we’ll talk about the stress symptoms you have in your body and mind, what you are already doing to manage your stress (and how well those techniques are or aren’t working), and help you develop new skills to deal with your stress. Then we set goals to help you create habits that make it easier for you to bounce back better from what life throws at you.
And, while stress resilience coaching is a subset of life coaching, it’s a lot more specific in that we’re just working on your stress, not your career or personal life goals.
This is because once you’ve reduced your stress enough to get back the resources you lose to being constantly stressed out, you’ll be a lot better able to deal with your stressors and work on your life goals on your own.

Sort of. I know the stressors of different socioeconomic situations are different - I've lived a variety of them, myself. So, I keep a few slots in my schedule for clients at discounted rates, as well as work trades and other options. If you're experiencing financial hardship, contact me and let's talk about what I can do for you.
-
Yes! I take credit card payments through Stripe, but I offer both the option to pay for longer term packages over time and a discount for paying upfront. Also look at the FAQ answer about sliding scale payments - I offer options for a lot of different budget situations.
-
Yes! Refer a friend and they get a discount off their first package (or first month of a subscription) and you get a discount off your next package (or month of a subscription)!

In a perfect world, yes. But, as with everything else in this work, there’s flexibility for special circumstances.
Targeted goal packages include a fixed number of sessions, and it’s best for your momentum if you can use them week after week. But, sometimes circumstances prevent that. You do have to use up all your bookings within 6 months, though, or they’ll expire.
Subscription packages give you 4 sessions per month, with the goal of having a consistent weekly time to work on your stress resilience goals. In general if you don’t use all 4 bookings in a month they are lost, but we can work together to be flexible around vacations, etc.
-
The last session in any targeted package will include a check-in to see your progress. If you want to work on another goal, or do more work on the same goal, you can always purchase another package or switch to an ongoing collaboration plan. Ongoing plans offer my lowest regular rates and some additional benefits!

If you cancel more than 24 hours before an appointment, you can rebook that appointment for a later date at no charge. Just use the rescheduling links in the email you get from Paperbell (also found in the description of the calendar event).
Within 24 hours of an appointment there are no refunds/cancellations/reschedules because I’m holding that time for you and nobody else can book it. If you aren’t on the call and haven’t contacted me within the first 15 minutes of a session, that counts as a no-show. For established, long term monthly subscription clients only, I may occasionally waive last-minute cancelations up to twice a year.
Coaching can’t help you if you aren’t invested and prioritizing our work together, and nobody likes having their time wasted. So, after 2 no-shows, or if I need to cancel our arrangement, any future appointments will be canceled, your package or subscription will be deleted, and any prepaid funds will be refunded at a prorated rate minus 20% administrative fee. (For example, if you bought a 6-week package using the prepayment option, attended one session, and two sessions were last-minute cancellations, there would be 3 of the 6 sessions left in your package. So if that package were canceled you would be refunded 30% of your original purchase price: 50% for the unscheduled sessions minus 20% administrative fee. If you had purchased the package using the weekly installment option, you would have only paid for the 3 sessions already used, so no refund would be due.)
-
If you’re in the middle of a payment plan and your payment doesn’t go through, you’ll be temporarily prevented from booking additional sessions until you can update your payment method.
If you have more than one missed payment on a targeted goal package, pre-booked sessions will be canceled and you’ll have to reschedule after you get your payments back on track.
If you’re on an ongoing collaboration plan, you’ll have one week after a missed payment to fix the situation before future pre-booked sessions will be canceled. You can always re-schedule after you’re back on track.
